An avid environmentalist he sits on the Advisory Board of Directors for the Surfrider Foundation. He recent wrote a book, "Surfers Code" - 12 Simple Lessons for Riding Through Life.

Innovator of performance surfing in the tube. Shaun rode deeper than anyone before him winning the Pipeline Masters in 1975. During his 14 years on the tour he changed the parameters of high-performance surfing. He has been featured in over 40 surf movies.

Retired from competitive surfing after 14 years of the tour. Tomson had 12 career wins. Shaun and his wife Carla currently manage the Solitude clothing company in Santa Barbara.
